The Story Behind Illuminations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot Posted: AugEducational Entertainment Parks Pinterest Rumors have been abounding for the past few years regarding the replacement of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth in the World Showcase Lagoon at Walt Disney World’s Epcot park. The longest of these three is Soarin’ which taps in around 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Select your initial Fastpass attractions on My Disney Experience. Out of all the attractions at Epcot, five hold Tier 1 FastPass+ spots: You’ll notice that the first three attractions on this list are traditional rides, meaning you get on, you have fun, you get off. It is a timed entry ticket with a one-hour window. Illuminations: Reflections of Earth is the fourth version of Illuminations to be shown in EPCOT. A Fastpass allows you to enter a ride or attraction through a separate line that is usually much shorter than the standby line. Laserphonic Fantasy was replaced by the first version of Illuminations. Laserphonic used most of the same music as A New World Fantasy. This show, too, had a short run from summer of 1983 until late spring of 1984 before it was replaced by Laserphonic Fantasy. The major downside to this show was it could only be viewed between the Canada and Mexico pavilions. The first was Carnival de Lumiere which was sponsored by Apple and ran from October 1982 until the summer of 1983. Now get out there and enjoy IllumiNations, and let us know what questions you have.Walt Disney World experimented with many different night-time shows at EPCOT. If you’re thirsty, you can also walk just a few steps across the pavilion to the Sake Bar for a beer or some sake. ![]() These were snapped with our iPhones in our favorite spot after a great meal at Teppan Edo! The Torii is a perfect silhouette for photos of the fireworks! Lightning Lane There are 12 attractions at EPCOT offering Lightning Lane, Disneys way to experience shorter lines at an extra cost. The end faces toward the lagoon and the Japanese Torii along the shoreline. The restaurants are in the building on the left, and while you cannot see it in this shot, there is a wide veranda on the front and end of the building. You’ll be in the perfect spot to see the show. When you’re finished eating, step out on the veranda and stake out a spot on the end facing the lagoon. Make the reservation for 7:00pm (again, we’ll be glad to handle that for you, too), which should give you time to enjoy a leisurely meal. Make a reservation for supper at either Teppan Edo or Tokyo Dining. Let’s assume for this post that IllumiNations will begin at 9:00pm. Our favorite spot – and the spot we think is best – combines supper in Japan with IllumiNations.ĭo your research before your visit (if you book with us, we’ll be doing that research for you), and find out the dates and times for the show during your stay. There is a ton of great information online about IllumiNations, from the official Disney page to sites like All Ears and WDWMagic. If you’re staying at one of the resorts close to Epcot – Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk – it’s an easy stroll back home after the show. ![]() It lasts just under 15 minutes and is the perfect way to end a day at Epcot.
